James E. Savage

LANCASTER - James E. Savage, 78, of Lost Nation, died Sunday morning, September 22, 2019 at Weeks Hospital in Lancaster, after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born, February 2, 1941 in Lancaster, the son of Arthur and Rufina (Howe) Savage. James attended local schools and graduated from Lancaster High School. He would later marry Corinne McMann and the couple would make their home in Lancaster, she died in 2017 after 52 years of marriage. For over 40 years he served as the road agent for the town of Lancaster. James had also served several years in the New Hampshire National Guard. He was very well liked in the community and was known as a man that would do anything for anyone.
Besides spending time with his grandson, attending local fairs in Lancaster, North Haverhill and Fryeburg, ME gave him great pleasure, especially attending the horse pulling events. Additionally he loved going to local car races and was recently inducted to the Riverside Speedway hall of fame.

Survivors include his daughter April Hatch and her husband Jonathan of North Haverhill and a son Jimmy Savage Jr. of Lancaster, a sister Mary Clay of Lancaster, his grandson Winston Hatch and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, September 27, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held at St. Timothy's Church in Lost Nation, 10:00 am Saturday September 28, 2019 followed by burial at the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster. Reverend Timothy Brooks, pastor, will officiate.
