MAIDSTONE, VT - James E. "Tubby" McDade, 62, died April 15, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mr. McDade was born in Lancaster on May 4, 1950 the son of Neil and Winona (Allen) McDade. He was a lifelong North Country resident and lived in many years in Groveton and later Maidstone.
His working life was dedicated to the Groveton Paper Mill where he was employed from 1968 to 2005. In his younger years he was and avid hunter and fisherman and played softball on community leagues. Tub enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a big fan of the late Dale Earnhardt. He was also well known for his gardening skills.
Family members include his wife Caroline McDade of Maidstone; 2 daughters, Kristine McDade-Baker and her husband Brian Baker of Maidstone, Janet Purrington of North Carolina; a son James N. McDade of Manchester, NH; a sister Mary Ann McDade-Huskey of Lancaster; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Wanita Bunnell of St. Johnsbury.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening April, 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM in Ridgwell Cemetery in Guildhall. Wendy MacDonald, funeral celebrant, will officiate.
