Jane Ann (Samson) Beaton

July 9, 1936 — February 24, 2013

LANCASTER - Jane Ann (Samson) Beaton, 76, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.  She was born in Lancaster, NH, on July 9, 1936, a daughter to the late Fred J. and Gladys M. (Ingerson) Samson.  Jane was the loving wife of Douglas A. Beaton, whom she married on August 25, 1956 at All Saints Catholic Church in Lancaster.

A 1955 graduate of Lancaster Academy, she began work for the New England Telephone Company in Littleton.  After raising her children, Jane returned to work in 1979 at The Lancaster National Bank and Trust until her retirement in 1998.

She enjoyed bowling and bingo over the years, and never missed an opportunity to go out dancing.  Many have missed seeing her on prior daily walks around town and at the library to pick up a new book to read.  One of her favorite passions was traveling to Las Vegas with Doug and their longtime friends, Rene and Joyce Arsenault.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Lawrence A. Samson and Richard E. Samson, and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Willey)Samson.

Jane is survived by her husband, Doug; her daughter, Joanne Marie (Beaton) Hartford and husband, Dennis I. Hartford of Queensbury, NY; her son, Douglas A. Beaton, Jr. and wife, Nora L. (Hodgkins) Beaton of Lancaster; her son, Jeffrey A. Beaton and companion, Maxine Pheresteine of Center Conway, NH; six grandchildren: Nathan Edward Hartford, Amanda Jane Hartford, Aaron Michael Beaton, Patrick Douglas Beaton, Brittany Estelle Beaton and Spencer Michael Beaton; one great granddaughter, Calla Jae Wills; her sister, Marguerite J. (Samson) Brainard; her sister-in-law, Louise (Gallagher) Samson; and many nieces and nephews.

In honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours nor funeral.  She will be buried at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and staff in the oncology department(s) at Lancaster Memorial Hospital and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for their support, care, dedication and compassion.
