DALTON - Janet D. Ainsworth, 74, died peacefully at her home on Monday evening, September 20, 2010, surrounded by her family, after a brief diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
Mrs. Ainsworth was born in Sutton, VT, on August 21, 1936, the daughter of Wayne C. and Doris H. (Lane) Proof.
Janet was raised in Gorham and was a graduate of Gorham High School. She was a 28 year resident of South Berwick, Maine, and has lived in Dalton since 1999. She was loved by many and known for always wearing a smile, sharing and teaching people to hug. She lived her life with her arms wide open.
Family members include a son Wayne S. Ainsworth of Dalton; a daughter Shari L. Souliere of Barrington, NH; a sister Marcia Turmel of Merrimack; two stepsisters, Joyce Whitcomb of Franklin, Evelyn Silver of St. Johnsbury; three grandchildren, Daniel Ainsworth, Thomas Gervasi, Amanda Gervasi and a great-granddaughter Alyson Ainsworth, several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Everett W. "Scottie" Ainsworth predeceased on February 11, of this year.
At Janet's request there are no visiting hours. A celebration of her life and strong love for her husband, family and friends will be held Saturday morning, October 2, at 11:00 AM, at the Dalton Congregational Church. Rev. Dennis Bowman will officiate.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Weeks Home Health, Hospice and Community Outreach Services, 278 Main Street, Lancaster, NH 03584-9998.
