J.D. Roberts

November 6, 1961 — December 7, 2024

John (JD) Roberts III, 63, long time resident of Lancaster NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 7, 2024. He graduated from White Mountain Regional High School in 1980. From there, he became part owner of Robert’s & Sons and then spent over 30 years building a lifelong career at the Mt. Washington Hotel.

JD left an everlasting love and care for all those who were blessed to know him. He had a way of making everyone feel just like family. He was always constant -steady, dependable, and there whenever anyone needed him. He was never too busy to take the time to listen, to offer advice, to share his wisdom and perspective. He was always up for any adventures, and he made the most of each day. He would never forget a special anniversary, birthday and was known for all his random acts of kindness, often surprising others with the perfect “just because” gifts. JD’s heart was bigger than anyone's, and his kindness, love, and generosity touched the lives of everyone he met. He was the very best —kind, selfless, thoughtful, and always there for not only his own family and friends, but wholeheartedly cherished his work family and guests at the Mt Washington Hotel. The Mount Washington Hotel was not only an occupation for him for over 30 years, but a place where he truly felt at home.

JD fought with unimaginable strength against the cancer that took him from us, but now he is free from any pain and fears. We are left with an ache that words can't express, knowing our lives will never be the same without him. But we take comfort in knowing he’s at peace now and in the company of those above. His memory will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know him.

JD is survived by his four sisters, who are also his very best friends. Pamela Roberts, Lynn (Roger) Emery, Cindy (Dennis) Normandeau, Heather (Kolin) Bailey; and his loving Aunt Elsie Bradway. He had many nieces and nephews who he loved as his very own including: Brian Roberts, Katie Gray, Nicholas Emery, Stacie Roberts, Becky Roberts, Samantha Durrance, Breanna Birt, Tucker Campbell, Kylee Savage and Kaden Bailey. JD leaves behind many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and forever friends. He was predeceased by; His parents, John & Norma Roberts, Brother George David Roberts, and Nephew Mitchell Emery.

A memorial service will be held at The Mount Washington Hotel on Sunday, January 5, at 1:00PM in the afternoon. A celebration of life to immediately follow. A private burial will be held at the family's convenience. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, JD’s family would appreciate donations to The Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church care of Tim Brooks, 113 Main Street, Lancaster, NH 03584.
