JEFFERSON - Jean M. Dingman, 79, of Bailey Road, died Saturday morning, March 3, 2018, at The Morrison in Whitefield, after a period of failing health.

Mrs. Dingman was born in Groveton on September 10, 1938 the daughter of Francis Hopps Sr. and Blanche Pauline (Woods) Hopps.

Jean was a homemaker for most of her life working for a short time at Connors Shoe in Berlin. Along with raising her own large family she always had an open door for others. She provided room and board for many family and friends and she particularly enjoyed taking care of children. Her favorite pastimes were knitting and crocheting.

Family members include six sons, Bruce A. Dingman and Clarence O. Dingman, both of Lancaster, Francis W. Dingman of Jefferson, David A. Dingman of East Concord, VT, Al L. Dingman of Lancaster, Jonathan P. Dingman of Virginia; a daughter, Beverly A. Rich of East Concord, VT; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother Roland Hopps of Arizona; three sisters Florence Dupuis of Groveton, Linda Roy of Stratford, Jeanette Roche of NY and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased her husband Albert C. Dingman; her parents Francis and Blanche; and siblings Elwin Hopps, Bernard Hopps, Francis Hopps, Harry Hopps, Norma Gadwah, Gloria Alexander, Helen Hopps, and Hazel Bedell.

Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday evening, March 9th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A memorial service will follow visiting hours at 7:00 PM. Reverend Dean A. Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church will officiate. A spring burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Kilkenny View Cemetery, Jefferson.
