LANCASTER - Jean Carol Foss, 81, died November 30, 2007 surrounded by her family and friends.
Born July 11, 1926 in Lancaster, the daughter of Cleo and Mildred (Boucher) Marshall, she was raised in Lancaster. On September 8, 1948, she was wed to Stewart R. Foss. After residing in Stoughton, MA for ten years, they moved back to Lancaster in 1964 to raise their family.
Jean was a graduate of Lancaster Academy (1944) and Becker Jr. College, Worcester, MA (1946). She worked for Lancaster Public Health as an Administrative Assistant, and throughout her life cared for many of her dear friends. Some of her hobbies included gardening, skiing and golfing.
She was a Communicant of All Saints Catholic Church, attending Mass daily.
She was also a CCD teacher, Eucharistic minister, lector, Treasurer of the Flower Fund Committee and member of the Tabernacle Society. She was also a member of the Emmons Smith Fund.
Jean was a devoted and beloved mother to her six children, Sharon Foss of Lancaster, Mark Foss and wife Rita of Warren, CT, Douglas Foss and wife Cindy of Pittsfield, MA, Andrew Foss and wife Carole of Belmont, NH, Thomas Foss and wife Marilyn of Lancaster, and Kevin Foss and wife Janet of Penacook, NH. She had 14 grandchildren: Adam, Diana, Greg, Erica, David, Ryan, Timothy, Katelyn, Derek, Christopher, Jillian, Nicholas, Michael and Stephanie, and four great-grandchildren.
Her parents and brother, Douglas Marshall, predeceased her.
Calling hours will be Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday morning, December 3, 2007 at 10:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, Lancaster. Rev. Raymond Ball will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's memory may be made to Col. Town Recreation Department, 16 High Street, Lancaster, NH to help with repairs to the Col. Town Community Camps where she enjoyed many gatherings with her family.
