MAIDSTONE - Jean Pierre "Peter" Cardin, 65, died Friday evening May 8, 2015 at the UVM Medical Center, Burlington.
Mr. Cardin was born in West Stewartstown, NH on January 30, 1950 the son of Jean Cyrille and Francoise (Bernard) Cardin. He was raised in North Stratford and was a graduate of Our Lady of Grace in Colebrook.
He served in the US Army in Vietnam and returned home working many years for Groveton Paper Company. He later worked with the Department of Health and Human Services mentoring children with special needs. He also worked for his daughter and son-in-law, Francine and Stephen, at the Ink Mill in Sanbornton, NH.
Peter enjoyed traveling, music, fishing with his son Jason and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving family members include his wife Lois Cardin of Maidstone; his son Jason Cardin of Groveton; his daughter Francine Mills and her husband Stephen of Moultonborough; three stepsons, James Hawkins and wife Vicki of South Port, North Carolina, Jerald Hawkins of Guildhall, Stephen Collins and wife Tamie of Groveton; a stepdaughter Wendy Sharp and husband Ed of Whitefield; grandchildren, Jaline, Sharelle, Tricia, Katrina, Tyler, Stephen, Elizabeth, Ayden, Isabelle, Alexis, Tristan and a great-granddaughter Aurohah.
A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon, May 16, at 3:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster. Reverend Brendan Whittaker and Timothy Brooks co-officiated. A committal with military honors will be held Saturday morning, May 30th, at 11 AM in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, N. Stratford. Reverend Whittaker will officiate.
