COLEBROOK - Jeffrey Brooks Haynes, 23, died January 1, 2006.

Jeff was born in Hanover, NH, on May 25, 1982, the son of Joy Brooks Haynes.

Raised in Colebrook, Jeff worked in his youth as a paper-boy and pumped gas at Lemeiux's Garage. He graduated from Colebrook Academy in 2000 and then worked one year at Ethan Allen in Beecher Falls, VT.

After 9/11 he enlisted in the US Marine Corp with good friend Scott Dobson on December 3, 2001. They served together from Parris Island, to Oklahoma and Okinawa, Japan. When transferred to the Middle East, Jeff was stationed in Allsard, Iraq, with 11 men in his command and Scott went to serve at the Syrian Border.

Jeff returned stateside in April and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, N. Carolina. There he assisted with the Katrina Relief effort in Louisiana. He returned home to Colebrook on December 3, 2005.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheelers, his motorcycle and NASCAR Racing. His latest love was his dog Tyson.

Family members include his mother, Joy Brooks Haynes of Colebrook; his father, Jeffrey M. Haynes and Rosalie King of Colebrook; a sister Elizabeth Haynes of Colebrook; a brother Jason Haynes of S. Dakota; his maternal grandmother Brenda Brooks Gadwah and her husband Neal Gadwah of Colebrook; his paternal grandmother Jean Keach Haynes of Colebrook; maternal great-grandfather, Milton Adair, Leesburg, FL; uncles, Brett Brooks, Tim Brooks, Jack Avery, David Haynes; aunts, Lisa Placy Brooks, Linda Haynes; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Weldon K. Brooks and Donald C. Haynes.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening January 5, from 6-9 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Colebrook. A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the church. Pastors, Rev. Randall Scheri and Rev. Krisann Byrne-Scheri will officiate.
