Jeffrey Edward Smith Sr., 59, of Lancaster, NH, passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2025.
Jeff was born in Lancaster on January 7, 1966, to Frederick and Kathleen Smith, was a well-known and beloved community member.
Infamously known by his many friends as “Smag”, when the 74’ Cuda came rolling by with the tunes blaring, they knew there was a good time to follow. He was a legendary foosball competitor in his time and a well-respected billiards and dart player as well. His love for games, both competitive and fun, was part of what made him so memorable. During his years at White Mountains Regional High School, he was a state soccer champion. He later built a business working with small engines and other trades. Jeff proudly served in the United States Army overseas as a cable technician, a part of his life that remained close to his heart and endowed leadership lessons and military discipline to his sons.
Jeff had a special bond with his mother, Kathy, whom he considered his best friend and number one inspiration. He was her rock, always there to drive her to and from work, ensure her favorite grape juice was ready when she came home, and have dinner on the table. His care and devotion were unwavering.
He was a devoted father to his three sons: Joseph, Christopher, and Jeffrey Jr. He cherished his time with them, whether shining out east spending long nights searching for animals or raising pigs and teaching them how to cook. His legendary bear meat meatballs were a favorite recipe he often made with his boys, alongside his infamous cereal chicken and homemade fries.
In his free time, Jeff loved watching Walker Texas Ranger and old westerns with his sons and mom, creating lasting memories. He was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, with one more on the way. His family was his heart, and he supported and encouraged each of them in their journeys through life.
A lover of the outdoors, Jeff found peace in nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his kids the most and spending time at camp on Haystack Mountain with his family. He also hosted countless PPV wrestling nights for family and friends, creating unforgettable moments of laughter and love.
Jeff treasured time spent with his friends, especially the Gonyer boys. The memories they made—whether working on projects, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company—were some of his most cherished. Their bond was filled with laughter and camaraderie that will never be forgotten.
Left to honor his legacy is his beloved mother, Kathleen Smith, his favorite sister, Lisa Smith and Nathan, sons Joseph Seeley and his wife, Alexandra, with daughters Isabella and Rosalynn; Christopher Seeley and his wife, Megan, with sons Archer and Emmett; and Jeffrey Smith Jr. and his husband, Deric Valdez, with son Luka Smith-Valdez. He leaves behind his niece, Stephanie Wallace (Gooden), nephew, Bryan Gooden, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick Smith Jr., and grandfather, Frederick Smith Sr., whom he had a special bond with. His memory lives on in the hearts of his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Jeff will be remembered for his selflessness and willingness to help others despite his own challenges. He was the person who would lift you up, even in the darkest times.
Calling Hours will be held from 10am - 12pm on Saturday, October 25th at Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Following the Graveside Service, friends and family are welcome for fellowship at the Cabot Motor Inn where they will be able to share fond memories together. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to a charity of choice in Jeffrey’s honor.
