LANCASTER - Jeffrey Austin Tenney completed his lifetime of service to others on July 11
th
, 2008 at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH after a wonderful day of visits by many close friends and surrounded by a loving and grateful family. He was born on March 24, 1947 to Keith and Jean (Sunbury) Tenney.
Jeff was a graduate of Lancaster High School and UNH with a degree in Forestry. After college he enlisted in the Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat engineer with the 101
st
Airborne Division. He then returned to his hometown and joined his father in operating the family owned Lancaster Oil Company. After retiring from the business, he began a new career as a para-educator at WMRHS.
He truly enjoyed his affiliations with the Lancaster Ambulance Corps, serving 19 years as a charter member, Boy Scout Troop 219 and most importantly, his service on the Board of Trustees of Weeks Medical Center.
He leaves his mother, Jean Tenney of Lancaster; the love of his life, Maggie; a son Ian Keith and wife Brenda of Simsbury, CT; a daughter Emily "Frenchy" of Boston, MA; his sister Judy Brook of Jeffersonville, VT; a brother, John Tenney, of St. Albans, VT and a large extended family.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 14
th
from 5 until 8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, on Tuesday, July 15
th
at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Weeks Medical Center or the Lancaster Area Food Pantry.
