GUILDHALL, VT – Joan I Breault, 92, died at her home Saturday afternoon, November 25th, 2023, after a period of declining health.
Joan was born in Lancaster, NH, on June 18, 1931, the daughter of Oliver C. and Gladys (Booth) Gilcris. In 1948 she graduated from Groveton High School, and she started working in her teens for the Wyoming Paper Company in Northumberland. When operations were transferred to Groveton Paper, she stayed on and worked a total of 43 years retiring under Wausau Paper.
In many capacities Joan served her community. For a time, she was an EMT with the Groveton Ambulance Corp., and she served as an Essex County Deputy Sheriff and jail keep.
She was an active member of the Eastern Star and in the 1980’s served as Grand Ruth of Vermont. Joan enjoyed reading books and loved to travel.
Surviving family members include her children, Linda Marshall of Northumberland, Lora Breault of Dalton, Lawrence Breault of Maidstone; her grandchildren Michael Woodward (Mary), Dana Breault, Aaron Breault (Kayla); her great-grandchildren, Arianna, Austin, Parker, Maddox, Barrett; and her sister Joyce Eldridge. She was predeceased by her husband Leon J. Breault in 1995 and a son-in-law Andrew Marshall in 2009.
A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon, December 3rd at 1:00PM in the Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall. Rev. Timothy Brooks, pastor of St. Pauls Church, Lancaster, will officiate.
