EAST CONCORD - Joanne L. Belair, 73, a long time resident of E. Concord, VT, died peacefully at home, in her sleep on Sunday, August 2, 2015, after a long, brave battle with cancer.
Joanne was born in Brockton, MA on May 29, 1942 and lived in and around the South Shore area until moving to Vermont in 1996. Joanne was the daughter of Joseph and Annie (Pigago) Mackiewicz. Joanne shared her love and her life with her late husband, Paul A. Belair.
Joanne leaves her daughters, Noelle Hosford and husband Ron, Gilman VT, and Brigette Walters and husband Bruce Walters, Lancaster NH and stepdaughter, Paulette Davis and husband Charlie, Leland, NC. Joanne also leaves behind; grandsons, Devin Belair, Elijah Walters, Grady Walters and Tyler Martin and granddaughters, Kourtnei Graham and Mykayla Martin. Joanne's grandsons, Geoffrey Graham and Sam Hosford, predeceased her. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Mariyah, Crew, Kingston, Aysjah, Kerwin, Alaya and Kaison. Joanne leaves 3 siblings, Judy Nelson, Gilman VT, Jean Clark, Phelps, NY and Joyce Waite, Clifton Springs, NY. A brother, Joseph Mackiewicz and a sister, Janice Lescault, predeceased her. Joanne's family also includes many loving aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
For many years, Joanne was employed as a customer service representative for many local companies including Timberland Machines, before retiring in 2009. She made many friends through her work and loved interacting with people.
Joanne spent her life in service to others. She studied to be a Hospice volunteer at Weeks Medical Center. She was well known and loved at the Gilman Senior Center, where she was a very active volunteer. Joanne was also a member of the TOPs group in Lancaster NH. Joanne really enjoyed her regular Bingo and Bonko games and the company of all of her friends there. Joanne made friends wherever she went. She was always ready with a smile and a "Hello!" and she will be greatly missed by many.
Per Joanne's request, there will be no service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Weeks Memorial Hospital Oncology Department, 173 Middle St. Lancaster, NH or to the Gilman Senior Center, Gilman VT.
