LANCASTER- John A. Farnham, 64, died Friday May 6, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.

Mr. Farnham was born in Hanover, NH on May 6, 1947, the only child of Joseph and Persis (Parker) Farnham.

He was a lifelong resident of Lancaster graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1966. During Vietnam he served with the US Army, serving as a Combat Infantryman with the 101

Airborne Division and the 3

Battalion 187

Regiment "Rakkasans". He was awarded a Bronze Star and Combat Infantrymen's Badge. He worked for over 20 years at Groveton Paper Co. retiring there in 1997 when owned by Wausau Paper.

His hobbies included collecting memorabilia and postcards from the local areas.

He was a member of the John Weeks VFW Post 3041, Lancaster and the Fredonwarell American Legion Post 17, Groveton.

Family members include his wife Sara (Holroyd) Farnham, a son Bevan John Farnham of Walpole, NH and a daughter Kelly Caterino and her husband James of New Milford, NJ, two stepdaughters Heather Vermette of Lancaster and Hillary Morris and her husband Joel of Birmingham, AL and 6 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday May 11, 2011 from 5-7 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will be held Friday May 13 at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Rev. Ron Bruce, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers donations maybe made in his memory to the, NH Veterans Home, 139 Winter Street, Tilton, NH 03276, checks made payable to: The NH Veterans Home Benefit Fund.
