JEFFERSON- John L. "Jack" Gordon of Jefferson died Friday, May 19, 2006, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 69.
Born in Bethlehem, Jack lived his whole life in the North Country. Much of his youth and young adulthood was spent skiing too fast at Cannon Mountain. A master bricklayer by trade, Jack was also an avid reader, woodsman, canoeist, fly fisherman and especially golfer. Most of all, he was an excellent husband and father who took his family hiking, fishing, canoeing, and cross country skiing and set a fine example of a hard-working, New England individualist. His sometimes gruff exterior masked a kind man of great empathy and humility. If you were stuck in a ditch or a snow-bank, Jack was always the guy who would stop and haul you out.
Jack is survived by his wife, Linda (Potter); a son Matt of Whitefield, a daughter Sarah of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister Lee Stillings of Canterbury, NH, and three grandchildren.
