JEFFERSON, NH- John W. "Jack" Ayer Jr., 70, of Dump Road, went to be with the Lord on, July 31, 2007.
Mr. Ayer was born in Somerville, MA on October 3, 1936, a son of John W. Ayer Sr. and Cassanna (Frost) Willey.
John was raised in Massachusetts and summered in Jefferson, which eventually became his permanent residence. For a time he worked in the woods and construction, most of his life he was a truck driver working for himself and Wausau Carriers from where he retired.
Family members include his wife Marilyn G. (Fraser) Ayer of Jefferson, a son John W. Ayer III and his wife Sue of Hudson, three daughters, Nancy Ayer of Hudson, Debra Sonnenburg and her husband Charles of Knob Noster, MO, and Cassanna O'Neal and her husband John of Westland, MI; one brother, Mike Willey of Brattleboro; VT; two sisters Mae Holden of Salisbury, Clara Whitney of Alaska ; and eight grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday afternoon, August 4, from 3-5 PM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Monday morning, August 6, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Rabbi Joyce Meinhardt and Reverend David Lavigne will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.
