John T.P. Jackson

LANCASTER, NH- Rev. John T. P. Jackson, 73, of Lancaster, NH, Tobey Island, MA, and Edgecomb, ME, died Tuesday February 8, 2011, following a stroke.

Rev. Jackson was born in Boston, MA on December 21, 1937, the son of James and Sally (Pratt) Jackson.

John graduated from The Westminster School, Yale College and the Berkeley Divinity School. He was a devoted priest, most recently in the Dioceses of Massachusetts and New Hampshire and was an enthusiastic teacher in OK, NJ and MA. He also served as a school chaplain, chaplain of the fire department and hospice chaplain and volunteer.

He loved family summers on Cape Cod, where he sailed. He was a curious traveler, especially enjoying special trips taken when each of his oldest five grandchildren turned 13. He was an avid birder and was pleased to make recent birding trips to the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica and Mallorca. John Made close friends everywhere he lived and his cheerful countenance and warm wit will be greatly missed.

A loving husband, father and grandfather. John is survived by, his wife W. Anne Jackson of Lancaster, his son, John T. P. Jr. and his wife Ellen Todd of Groton, MA and their children, John T.P. Jackson III, Clark Jackson and Nathan Turner and his wife Monica; his daughter Martha Jackson Gegan of Davis, CA and her husband Brian and their children Caroline, Natalie and Lydia Gegan; his son Benjamin Jackson of Brooklyn, NY and his wife Martha Lee and their children Sophie and Oliver Jackson; his stepson Peter B. Sahlin of Lyndon, VT; his former wife Beatrice Vincent; his brothers Michael and Timothy Jackson and his sister Phyllis Mills and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, a brother Jimmy Jackson and his stepdaughter Amy Sahlin.

A memorial service will be held Saturday February 12, at 1:00 PM, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster, The Right Rev. Gene Robinson and Rev. Noel Bailey will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 113 Main St., Lancaster, NH 03584 for their Tuesday night feeding ministry and for the food pantry.
