BEVERLY, MA - John W. Kennedy Jr., 93, formerly of Lancaster, died Sunday October 9, 2016 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation in Beverly, MA.
Mr. Kennedy was born in Medford, MA on May 24, 1923, the son of John W. Kennedy Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Buckley) Kennedy. He was a graduate of Medford High School and Holy Cross where he acquired a Bachelors degree in Chemistry. He served in Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. After the war he was employed as a math and chemistry teacher at Cranwell Preparatory School, Lenox, MA and Miss Hall's School in Pittsfield, MA. He retired in 1987.
Family members include his wife Jane (Twitchell) Kennedy of Beverly, MA; a son Dr. Stephen Kennedy of Elkgrove, CA; two daughters, Ellen Jean Butler of Beverly, MA, Carol Stone of Acton, MA; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
There are no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held Thursday morning, October 13

, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster. Reverend Timothy Brooks, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
