John R. Mcgee Sr.

November 11, 1929 — January 31, 2013

TWIN MOUNTAIN, NH - John R. McGee Sr., 83, of Parker Road, died Thursday January 31, 2013 at Weeks Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. McGee was born in Twin Mountain on November 11, 1929 the son of John V. and Mary (Mullen) McGee.

John graduated from Twin Mountain High School and then served two years with the US Army.  On December 1, 1956 he married Roberta Merrow and they had four children.

He was a carpenter by trade and worked for several contractors.  For over 30 years he was employed as a carpenter at the Mount Washington Hotel and retired as the shop foreman.

At home he enjoyed sitting on the front porch whittling canes and weather sticks or spending time outdoors working in his yard.  He liked to make people laugh and most of all loved spending time with his family.

John was a Communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Twin Mountain and was a member of the American Legion.

Family members include his wife of 56 years Roberta McGee of Twin Mountain; a son John R. McGee Jr. and Corena of Twin Mountain; three daughters, Anne McGee and Dennis Ranson of Barrington, NH, Karen Malette and Brian of Bow, Carla McGee and Michael Healey of Twin Mountain; five grandchildren, Laura, Violet, Kimberly, Reilley, Michael; two brothers, Herbert McGee and Thomas McGee both of Twin Mountain; six sisters, Irene Thompson of Goffstown, Phyllis Ricardi and Theresa Jellison both of Twin Mountain, Stella Lemieux of Gorham, ME, Pauline Boynton of Whitefield, Catherine Mountain of Barrington; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister Janet Wessels.

Memorial visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening February 5, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church, Twin Mountain.  Rev. Matthew Mason, Pastor will officiate.  Burial will be in the spring in St. Margaret's Cemetery, Twin Mountain.
