While attending Somersworth High School and making ice cream at The Big Dipper, he met a sweet gal driving a 1948 Ford who later became his best friend and wife, Nancy Willand.

Dr. Perreault married his sweetheart, Nancy, while he was in dental school.  Following graduation from Tufts, they moved to Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia, where he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps.  He remained in the Army Reserve until his discharge in 1968.

After completing active duty service, Dr. Perreault moved to Lancaster, N.H. where he practiced dentistry for over 50 years.

Dr. Perreault is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy (Willand) Perreault of Lancaster; a daughter, Jan Stearns, and her husband, Harry, of Thornton, N.H.; a son, John E. Perreault, Jr., and his wife, Tina (Wright), of Maidstone, Vermont; and a daughter, Kay Van De Moere, and her husband, Barry, of Thornton, N.H.;  six grandchildren, Tyler and Lauren (Maggart) Stearns, Jenna Stearns, Cody and Addy (Brown) Perreault, Mariah Perreault, Samantha Van De Moere and Elizabeth Van De Moere; and great grandson, Cody John Perreault.  He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kelsey Perreault.

He was a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the N.H. Dental Society, and the American Dental Association.  Following his retirement, Dr. Perreault provided free dental services for adults who don't have access to dental care.  He was a former member of the White Mountains Regional High School Board, the Lancaster Zoning Board, the Colonel Town Spending Committee and the Lancaster Rotary Club, and he served on the board of directors for the Lancaster National Bank.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the Bethlehem Country Club.  He was also well-known for his green thumb and enviable garlic crop.
