NORTH STRATFORD - Jon Hall Emerson 66, of North Stratford, NH passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008, at Missions Hospital in Asheville, NC with his family at his side.
Jon was born in Lancaster, NH on July 10, 1942, the son of Everett A. Emerson, Sr. and Francess Emma Hall.
Jon was Chief of Police in the mid sixties to early seventies in the Town of Stratford, NH., and was a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows, and was a member of the TOPS Chapter 186 of Hendersonville, NC., and a former member of the TOPS Chapter in Lancaster, NH. And represented both chapters as their King, and was for twenty seven years, was the owner with his wife Lynette, of Emerson's Country Store in North Stratford, NH
Jon is survived by his wife Lynette of 47 years, a son, Charles F. Emerson and Ann Dubois of Rochester, NH, a daughter, Debra A. Smith and her husband Christopher Smith of North Stratford, NH, two grandsons, Jon Leslie Emerson who is in the Coast Guard stationed in Cape Cod, Joshua C. Smith who is attending college in Orono, Me., and one granddaughter, Jessica A. Bowen and her husband Alex Bowen, and her stepson Damian Bowen of North Stratford, NH, and one sister, Linda A. Fraser and her husband Kenneth Fraser of Lancaster, NH., and one sister-in-law, Myra Emerson of Lancaster, NH., and many nieces and nephews.
Jon is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Everett, Leslie, and Fred, his sisters Selma Delworth, Faye Hodge, Marion Babcock and Dorothy Emerson.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 30, at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
