Joseph J. Bodnar

GROVETON - Joseph J. "Doc" Bodnar, 63, of Lancaster Road, died Saturday evening February 25, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Bodnar was born in Bridgeport, CT, on August 18, 1942, the son of Joseph and Mary (Hiza) Bodnar. He was raised in Fairfield, CT, and moved to the North Country in 1974, residing first in Lancaster and later Groveton. He was an accomplished woodworker all his life and was employed at Brown Street Furniture, Whitefield, for 14 years. In his retirement years he continued his craft and made furniture for his family.

Family members include his wife Mary Lou Bodnar of Groveton; two sons, Joseph Bodnar of Dalton, Darrell Bodnar of Groveton; a daughter, Coleen DeMoras of Kentucky; grandchildren, Jacob Bodnar, Joshua Bodnar, Noah Bodnar; a sister Patricia Troy of California; a brother-in-law, Charles Falkenstrom of Dalton; four nieces, Stacy King, Cheryl San Pablo, Anne Thompson-Ballew, Erica Witcher; and two grand nieces, Rachel King and Nicole King.

At Mr. Bodnar's request there will not be calling hours. A private memorial service will be held Friday afternoon, March 3, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor of All Saints Church, Lancaster, will officiate. At 3PM on Friday family and friends are invited to the Bodnar residence for a luncheon.
