LUNENBURG - Joseph Jacques Gilles Racine, 78, died Saturday December 25, 2021 at the Country Village Nursing Home in Lancaster.
Born January 20, 1943 in Granby, PQ, Canada, the son of Gaston and Kathleen (Tining) Racine. At age five he moved to the family farm in Irasburg, VT and attended school in Orleans. In 1963 he married Theresa Tremblay in East Albany, VT, first making their home in Orleans, later moving to several other Vermont towns and then finally settled in Lunenburg, VT. Most of his adult life was spent as a truck driver for several different companies including Perras Lumber. In earlier years he did long haul trucking, taking his wife Theresa with him. Most recently he was employed by Central Paving.
He was an excellent wood worker; with his very own wood shop he created many remarkable pieces. He enjoyed collecting guns and time spent with his beloved dog Bruno.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa. One son, Leon Racine and wife Sharon. One daughter, Lisa (Racine) Smith and husband Richard. Brothers Donald (Carol) and John. One grandson, Keith, three granddaughters, Nicole, Michelle and Erin (Smith) Amadon and husband Alan. Three great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, father and brother Richard.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 5th, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Theresa's Cemetery, Orleans, VT. Fr. Curtis Miller will officiate.
