WHITEFIELD - Joseph E. Jackson Sr., 69, of Elm Street, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a recent illness.
He was the son of Murray and Ilda Jackson, was the proprietor of Whitefield Electronics working as an electronics technician and sound engineer. For many years he provided sound services to local school and civic events including providing the sound services for the Whitefield summer band concerts every year since 1960.
Joe was an accomplished professional bass guitar player working with many local country music bands over the years. He was also an early member of the Whitefield Life Squad.
Joe was a long time member of the Community Baptist Church in Whitefield serving as moderator for several years and also serving in positions of deacon and trustee. Mr. Jackson has been the inspiration behind the development and success of the North Country Gospel Music Festival which has been sponsored by the church for the past five summers.
Joe was an active member for 28 years of the North Star Lodge No. 8, Free & Accepted Masons in Lancaster, NH, serving as Worshipful Master from 1991 through 1993. He was also a 32nd degree member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. He was also a member of Olive Branch Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star in Lancaster and was currently serving as First Vice-President of North Star Masonic Corporation.
His hobbies and interests included tinkering with electronic and sound systems, amateur radio, gospel and country music and volunteering in the local schools.
Joseph leaves four grown children: Tammy Boudle of Whitefield, NH; Joseph Jackson, Jr. of Graham, WA; Bethany Jackson of Decatur, IL and Jeannie Jackson of Berlin, NH. He also leaves four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Mr. Jackson at the Community Baptist Church of Whitefield, located at 27 Jefferson Rd. at 10 am on Friday, November 4
th
, 2011 with a committal service at the Colebrook Village Cemetery, Route 3, Colebrook, NH at 2pm on Saturday, November 5
th
. The Rev. Clifford W. Vendt will officiate the services.
