Joseph F. Monahan

LANCASTER, NH- Joseph F. Monahan, 73, of Elm Street, died at his home on Monday evening, February 11, 2008, after a long illness.
Mr. Monahan was born in Jefferson, NH on July 18, 1934, the son of Frank H. and Esther W. (Burke) Monahan. On March 7, 1953 he married June A. Wheeler.
Joe worked for fifteen years at Stratford Plywood until it closed and was then employed eleven years at Groveton Paper. During those years he performed additional work including carpentry, painting and property maintenance and in 1982 he started his own full time company, Joe Monahan and Crew. He worked the rest of his life up to approximately one year ago when his health failed him.
He was a member of the Lancaster Assembly of God.
Family members include his wife June A. (Wheeler) Monahan of Lancaster; six children, Kimberly (Monahan) Ingerson and her husband Lloyd of Jefferson, Rodney Monahan and his wife Elaine (Gooden) of Stark, NH, Jodi (Monahan) Welcome and her husband Wesley of E. Concord, VT, Penny (Monahan) Bradford of Lancaster, Peggy Sue (Monahan) Achs of Illinois, Norman Monahan and his wife Robin (Goodwin) of Gilman, VT; 19 grandchildren, 7 with spouses; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by, his parents and two sisters, Christina and Rena.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening February 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 11:00. Reverend James Michael, pastor of Lancaster Assembly of God will officiate.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.
