LANCASTER - Joy V. Pedersen, 71, of Grange Road, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Pederson was born in Quebec, Canada, on April 19, 1940, the daughter of William and Theresa (Beaudrey) McKinnon.
Raised in Burlington, MA, she attended Burlington High School and in 1965 move to the North Country. She resided for a short time in Colebrook before moving to Lancaster where she worked as a nurses aid for many years. After earning a degree as an LPN at NH Community Technical College she was employed at Genesis Eldercare in Lancaster for 20 years.
Joy had a love for gardening; she cultivated many flower gardens and was an herbalist. She also loved to travel and was a reiki master.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Valarie Pedersen of Lancaster, Lee Ann Dorr and her husband Jefferson of South Berwick, Maine; two sisters, Kizzie Sullivan and Roberta Lajoie both of Lancaster; three brothers, Roy McKinnon and David McKinnon both of New Hampshire and Jeffrey McKinnon of Maine. Her husband, Harold C. Pedersen, predeceased her.
Services will be held in the spring.
