GROVETON - Karen L. Clauss, 57, died peacefully at home on Tuesday May 19, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Canandaigua, NY on May 14, 1958 she was the daughter of Francis and Donna Esther (Cook) Kelly. Raised in New York she attended Canandaigua schools and graduated from Whitesboro High School. In 1984 she fell in love with the White Mountains of NH and moved to Lancaster to become a permanent North Country resident.
For over 17 years she was employed as a bank service representative with the Bank of New Hampshire in Littleton. In 2008 she also started working part time at Shaw's Supermarket in Lancaster as a customer service representative.
Karen was an inspiration to her friends and family. Her inner strength and enthusiasm for life allowed her to prevail through the challenges that were dealt to her. Karen's greatest passion was spending time with those she loved. She enjoyed arts and crafts, reading novels, and took delight in spending time outside in the summer. Throughout her life both music and pets were sources of comfort and solace.
Surviving family members include her three children, Jared Clauss of Groveton, Alicia Clauss of Groveton, Bianca Clauss of Milan; five grandchildren, Ella Shannon, Taylor Clauss, Colby Shannon, Ryan Clauss, Colin Shannon; her siblings Cynthia Burt of Penn Yan, NY, Patricia Chalfonte of Pittsfield, MA, Sean Kelly of Murray, KY, Michele Kelly of Wernersville, PA, Michael Stonewell of Canandaigua, NY, Allison Stonewell Jansen of Webster, NY; and many nieces and nephews
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday evening May 22, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A graveside service will be delayed and held Saturday morning, May 30, at 10:00 AM in the Northumberland Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Oncology Department at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, NH 03584.
