BETHLEHEM - Karen Anne (Bailey) DeGroat, 40, of Lewis Hill Road, died Sunday, December 27, 2009, in Lancaster.



Karen was born in Manchester on April 29, 1969, the daughter of Ronald N. and Carol Anne (Stone) Bailey.



She was a 1988 graduate of White Mountain Regional High School and a 1992 Graduate of Lyndon State College where she received her teaching degree.  At her high school she was a former member of SADD.  Other former memberships include Lyndon State Rescue and Americorp.  In 1998 Karen was employed at the Mountain Club at Loon where she met her husband of ten years John DeGroat.  She and John were in the foster parenting program.



She was a parishioner of the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ.



Surviving family members include her husband John DeGroat of Bethlehem; her parents Ronald and Carol "Binky" Bailey of Lancaster; two brothers, Kevin N. Bailey of Lancaster, Kolin M. Bailey and his wife Heather of Lancaster; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.



Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.  A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ.  Rev. David Pendleton and Rev. Virginia Alvarez, pastor, will officiate.  Committal services will be held at a later date.



At Karen's request please omit flowers.  Her bunnies were her "fur" children.  Due to her love of rabbits please make memorial donations to House of Rabbit Network, PO Box 2602, Woburn, MA 01888-1102.
