GUILDHALL - Kathleen A. Nelson, 60, of North Road, died Thursday evening, March 16, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a long illness with diabetes.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Morristown, NJ, on April 13, 1945, the daughter of Herbert and Annabelle (Tunnis) Neidel.
Kathy was raised in New Jersey and was a 1963 graduate of Morristown High School.
In 1967 she married Nels P. Nelson III of Basking Ridge, NJ, and they moved to Guildhall in 1971. There they raised their family and operated a farm raising quarter horses and cattle. She also assisted her husband in the operation of his business.
Mrs. Nelson was long time equestrian who rode show horses in amateur and professional circuits. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, spending time with people and was loved by all who knew her.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she assisted with many of the church's activities.
Family members include her husband Nels; two sons, Nels Philip Nelson IV and wife Karen of Guildhall, VT, Christopher E. Nelson and wife Tracey of Jefferson; grandchildren, Eric, Jacob, Katelyn, Megan, Kyle, and Kegan.
At Kathy's request there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday morning March 21, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul's Church, Lancaster. Rev. David Rose, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall.
