LANCASTER - Katie Reed Maker, 89, died Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2012, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Maker was born in Chichester, NH, on June 18, 1922, the daughter of Daniel and Bessie (Ingerson) Reed.
Raised in Chichester until 7 years old Katie then moved to Lancaster where she resided for the rest of her life. During her working years she was employed at Gilman Paper, Morse's Lodge, and the Lancaster Diner. She dedicated her last 20 years of employment as a caregiver to senior citizens. Since 1989 she has been a resident of McKee Inn.
Surviving family members include 8 children, Wallace Maker of Windham, Catherine Maker of Littleton, Gloria Chase of Lancaster, Donna Trombley of Litchfield, Frank Maker of Jefferson, Bonnie Locke of Littleton, Candie Powell of Littleton, Ronnie Bryant of Nashua; her sister-in-law of 70 years, Irene Murphy; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Earl Maker Sr. in 1986; two sons, Earl Maker Jr., Daniel Maker; a daughter Roberta Beland; infant twins; a brother George Reed; and 2 sisters, Florence Dresser and Alice Sterling.
Visiting hours will be held Monday April 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Rev. Ron Bruce, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
