Laura Carpenter Morin, 88, of Lunenburg, VT passed away peacefully surrounded by family and dear friends on December 9th. She was born April 11, 1933 in Barre, VT to George & Florence (Magoon) Carpenter, the second of eight children. She was a graduate of Spaulding High School in Barre.
In 1955, she married Albert (Bert) Morin. They shared their lives and enjoyed their ever-growing family together until Bert predeceased her in June of 2014.
Laura was always a working woman who modeled independence, hard work and dedication to her four daughters. Her true calling was caregiving. From patient care in hospitals in NH and FL to providing compassionate care to area families who needed assistance with their loved ones, she always went above and beyond, often bringing her patients home cooked meals or one of her delicious desserts.
Laura is survived by her four daughters, Cheryl Morin Stearns of Davidson, NC; Sherry Morin Barton and husband Henry of Ocala, FL; Shelly Hirn of Waxhaw, NC and Launa Morin-Glover and husband Douglas of Sugar Hill, NH. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Lauren Stearns McCormick (Thomas), Patrick Stearns, Hannah Morin Barton, Jacob Barton, Sage Laura Barton, Jordan Hirn, Alexa Hirn and Benjamin Glover. She was blessed with her first great-grandchild, Eleanor Morin McCormick last year.
She is also survived by her brothers and sister, David Carpenter of Cranston, RI; Norman Carpenter of Jacksonville, AR; Roberta Buley of Rutland, VT; and Michael Carpenter of Swanton, VT. She was predeceased by her brother, George Carpenter and her sisters, Barbara Pliscofsky and Cynthia Peake.
Laura also leaves behind her treasured friend, Sylvia Doolan and her loving sister-in-law, Sis Moffett.
A Communicant of Gate of Heaven Parish Church in Lancaster, NH, Laura was an active member of the Church.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided to Laura by Tammy Lazott and her team at Weeks Medical Center.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
