LANCASTER - Lawrence S. Wright, 91, died Saturday morning, February 18, 2012, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Wright was born in Lunenburg, VT, on July 16, 1920, the son of Clayton E. and Leona V. (Carbee) Wright.
He was raised on the family farm in Lunenburg and resided there until moving to Lancaster in 1968. For his entire life he worked as a self employed logger and truck driver. During that time he also owned and operated his own trucking company. In his spare time he enjoyed going to his favorite stops to socialize over a cup of coffee.
Family members include his wife of 60 years, Mary L. (Brainard) Wright of Lancaster; three daughters, Deborah Dubois of Jefferson, Nancy McVetty of Dalton, Marcia Parkhurst of Columbia; two sisters, Dorothy Kulisek of Oregon, Muriel Cloos of Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark, Amy, Christopher, Eric, Phillip, Jeffrey, Ashlynn; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Jeffrey Wright; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, February 25, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A service will be held immediately after at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A private burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery.
