Twin Mountain- Leo P. Lavallee, 96, passed away on Wednesday night August 7, 2013 at The Morrison in Whitefield. He was born on November 6, 1916 in Winooski,VT a son to the late Ernest and Amanda Lavallee.
Mr. Lavallee was raised in Rhode Island near Providence. From 1940-142 he was a champion speed skater winning many titles throughout New England. He served with the US Navy during WWII
Mr. Lavallee worked for Black and Decker as a plastic engineer. He moved to Twin Mountain after marrying Dorothy Dale on August 3, 1980. Mr. Lavallee was a former school board member for the White Mountain School District, for the years 1991-1994. He enjoyed skiing at Cannon Mountain and did so until he was 87 years old, and was also a former ski patroller in Maryland. Mr. Lavallee enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Profile Golf Club. Surviving family members are Anthony and Lynne Notari, Jill and Ed Knox, Paul and Marie Notari, Amy and Mark Crory, Molly and Dave Barnes, Charles Notari and James Notari.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 10 at 1 PM in the Straw Cemetery in Twin Mountain with the Reverend Matthew Mason officiating.
A memorial service will be held in September, details to be announced at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leo Lavalle Engineering Scholarship Fund at the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank. Scholarship to be awarded at WMRHS graduation.
