DALTON - Leo G. Richard, 84, of Bridge Hill Road, died Sunday afternoon June 15, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Richard was born in Gardiner, MA on January 17, 1930 the son of Alyre and Anita "Bonnie" (Gerard) Richard.

During his lifetime Leo has been a dedicated construction worker and truck driver.  For 20 years he was employed with Pike Industries and almost another 20 with Currier Trucking.  He also worked for the NH State Highway department as a patrolman.  He patrolled throughout the North Country including the Franconia Notch Parkway.

Travelling in his RV was one of his favorite pastimes.  He once drove from Prince Edward Island to California.  The Amish country was another favorite stop.  Other interests included bird watching and bicycle repair.  Leo was known as "The Bike Man" and for many years operated Leo's Repair Shop from his home.  He also enjoyed watching TV and visiting with friends.  He liked telling stories to make people laugh and keep them guessing.

He loved animals in general especially dogs.  He will be missed by his beloved companion Princess who was always by his side during his illness.

Family members include his wife Mearline "Jill" (Tillotson) Richard of Dalton;  his children Leo "Jerry" Richard and wife Nancy of Tucson, AZ, Thomas Richard of Ramona, CA, Carol Annie Richard of Chambersburg, PA, Doreen Brado and husband Barry of Dalton; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Annette Lee of Manchester, NH, Gloria Wilson of Groveton, Pat Gamache of Manchester, NH, Marylou Stafford of Littleton; his close friend Mike Osgood and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Marjorie Vigenault of Manchester, NH.

A funeral service will be held Saturday morning June 21, at 11:00 AM at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.  Reverend Diane Raymond, pastor of the Dalton Congregational Church will officiate.  Burial will follow in Cushman Cemetery, Dalton.
