Leola I. Sheptor

June 30, 1918 — November 23, 2014

LANCASTER - Leola I. Sheptor passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014, at the age of 96 at The Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH after a lengthy illness.

She was born on June 30, 1918, in Lancaster, the daughter of Theodore Vashaw and Zella (Morin) Vashaw Tripp.  She was a lifelong resident of Lancaster until 2007 when she moved to The Morrison due to her illness.

She attended Lancaster Schools and Graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1936.  She worked for the NH Highway Office until her marriage to John Sheptor of Berlin in November of 1948.  In 1960 they welcomed their first child, a son, into their home and she began her most favorite career as mother and homemaker.  In 1962 they were again blessed and welcomed into their home a second child, a daughter.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, nana, great-nana, aunt, and friend who will never be forgotten by her family and friends.

She was very active at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lancaster and was President of the Churchwomen's Group for over 25 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John on March 12, 1978, her brothers Randall Vashaw, Clarence "Coo" Vashaw, and Richard Tripp.

She is survived by her son, John C. Sheptor and wife Tiba Parsa of Bethesda, MD; her daughter Cindy Sheptor Winget and husband Don of Lancaster; her grandchildren Jennifer Sheptor Attila and husband Selly of Virginia Beach, VA; John Michael Sheptor and wife Emma of  Kansas City, MO; Stephen Sheptor and wife Hallie of Kansas City, MO; Sarah Sheptor of Columbia, MO; Briana Sheptor of Lancaster; Alyssa Sheptor of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Vitoria Sheptor of Sao Paulo, Brazil, great-granddaughter, Zoe Lewis of Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Ruth Tripp of Largo, FL; brother in-law Fred Smith and wife Julie of Berlin; brother in-law Edward Kowalewski of Glen Bernie, MD; her best friend Ronnie Gardner, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday November 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.  A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM at St. Paul's Church, Lancaster.  Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in Leola's memory be made to Northwoods Hospice, 278 Main St., Lancaster or The Morrison Nursing Home, 6 Terrace St., Whitefield.
