LANCASTER - Leonard B. Perkins Sr., 79, of Page Hill Road, died Friday August 5, 2016 at Weeks Medical Center, after a period of failing health.
Mr. Perkins was born in Jefferson on April 13, 1937 the son of William Dana and Nellie (Sheridan) Perkins.
On March 10, 1956 he married Rosemary Pritchard in Hartford, CT. They resided in Connecticut for many years where they raised their family and Leonard worked as a tree surgeon for the Parks & Recreation Department in Glastonbury, CT. In 1997 the returned to the North Country residing for a time in Lunenburg and later Lancaster.
Leonard enjoyed being outdoors working on his lawns or in the garden. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the VFW in Lancaster.
Surviving family members include his five children Leonard B. Perkins Jr. and Karl D. Perkins both of Lancaster, Pamela J. Lurvey of Jefferson, Marie R. Perkins of Bethlehem, Sue Edwards of Englewood, FL; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; three brothers, William D. Perkins Jr. of Vermont, Wayne Perkins of Delaware, Roderick Perkins of NY and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Rosemary in 1999; two daughters, Leonardina J. Medina in 1998, Cynthia A. Perkins in 2014; and a brother Armand Perkins.
A graveside service will be held Friday afternoon, August 12
th
, at 2:00 PM in Riverton Cemetery, Jefferson. Reverend Dean A. Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church, will officiate.
