Lester Tony Collins

LANCASTER- Lester "Tony" Collins, 64, of Page Hill Road, died Thursday morning, July 20, 2006 after a six and a half year battle with cancer, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Collins was born in Lancaster, on August 8, 1941, the son of Parker C. and Blanche I. (Smith) Collins Jr.

Tony was raised in Lancaster, he was a 1959 graduate of Lancaster Academy; he went on to meat-cutting school in Toledo, Ohio graduating in 1962. He was employed as a meat-cutter and manager of IGA in Concord, NH, while in Concord he met and married his wife Nellie (Rowell) in 1971. He moved back to Lancaster in 1974, where he was employed by, C.B. Cummings in Groveton and later worked for the New Hampshire Dept. of Transportation as an assistant foreman, until his retirement in December of 2002.

He loved hunting and passed his skills onto his son Jeff, he also loved fishing and sharing his catch with neighbors and friends, he enjoyed watching cooking shows and the races on television.

Family members include his wife Nellie of Lancaster; a son Jeffrey Collins and his companion Kristen Kenison, of Lancaster; a daughter Christie Kecskemethy of Pennsylvania; a sister; Betty Reed and her husband Claude of Lancaster, his step-mother Carol Collins; two half brothers, Parker "Mickey" and David all of Lancaster, a half sister Cathy of Groveton; mother in-law Myrtle Rowell of Sawyerville, Quebec, Canada; many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, July 21, from 6-9 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at the funeral home, Reverend Virginia Alvarez, pastor of the Lancaster Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
