LANCASTER - Lillian F. Force, 88, died Saturday morning, December 1, 2007, at Country Village Health Care Center, Lancaster, after a long illness.
Mrs. Force was born in Newark, NJ, on November 18, 1919, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Lind) Plate.
Lillian was raised in West Orange, NJ, and graduated from high school there. In 1942 she married Carroll J. Force. Following her husband's career with General Electric they resided for a time in Schenectady, NY, later returning to New Jersey and eventually Stratford, CT. She has resided in Lancaster since 2002 to be near her family. She has been a 25-year cancer survivor.
She enjoyed golfing, bowling, card playing and traveling the world. Lillian was a Communicant of All Saints Church, Lancaster, and was a member of the Weeks Memorial Auxiliary, Colonel Town Senior Citizens, the Unity Club, the RSVP, and the Tabernacle Society at All Saints Church.
Family members include a son Richard C. Force Sr. and his wife Louise of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Richard C. Force Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Lancaster, Tania L. Drummond and her husband Robert J. Drummond Jr. of Littleton; six great-grandchildren, Andrew Force, Makenna Force, Madison Force, Alec Drummond, Tyler Drummond, Samantha Drummond; and a sister Marion Verstrate and her husband Theodore of New Jersey. Her husband predeceased her.
A visiting hour will be held Tuesday morning December 4, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at All Saints Church, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
