Linda Gail Simonds

GROVETON - Linda Gail Simonds, 76, died May 13, 2013 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Simonds was born in Lancaster on April 14, 1937 the daughter of Clarence E. and Gladys L. (Rich) Nourse.
Gail was raised in Lancaster where she attended local schools. In 1953 she married Arthur A. Simonds and they worked in partnership operating a dairy farm in Maidstone for 25 years. Retiring from farming in 1978 she then worked at Lancaster Hardware as a manager until 1992. Later in life she completed her schooling and acquired her GED.
Together Gail and Arthur enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, long rides, and country music. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she cherished with her family. Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
For 50 years she was a member of the Lancaster Olive Branch Chapter #1 Order of the Eastern Star and past member and secretary of the Essex County Farm Bureau. She was also a founding member and past president of the Groveton High School Booster Club.
Surviving family members include her devoted husband of 60 years Arthur of Groveton; four children, Linda Simonds of Howard, Colorado, Arthur "Butch" Simonds and wife Brenda of Jarreau, Louisiana, Edward Simonds of Barre, VT, Lisa Grimes and husband Tom of Groveton; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Cade, Brent, Krista, Josh, Jake, Elizabeth; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jace, Aidana, Ethan, Cloe, Adrian, Braylee; and two very special nephews and a very special niece. She was predeceased by her parents and a granddaughter Tegan Elane Simonds.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday afternoon May 15, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. An Eastern Star service will be held at 6:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Gail's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Catholic Medical Center Murphy Unit/Comfort Care, 100 MeGregor Street, Manchester, NH 03102.
