LANCASTER - Lindwood P. Gray Sr., 63, of Powder Hill Drive, died at home Saturday morning October 20, 2007, after a long illness.
Mr. Gray was born in Lancaster on February 4, 1944, the son of Aubrey and Geraldine (Eastman) Gray.
Linwood was a lifetime resident of the North Country. In his early years he started out working in the woods and on his brother's farm. For a time he had a rubbish route with his father and brother and was also employed at the mill in North Stratford. Before he was forced to retire due to his health he was employed as a janitor for the old Lancaster Elementary School and Weeks Memorial Hospital.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and collecting bears and racing memorabilia. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially children.
Family members include his wife Mary Lou (Dorr) Gray of Lancaster; two sons, Linwood P. Gray Jr. of Stark, Lawrence R. Gray of N. Stratford; a daughter Lori Champagne of N. Stratford; two brothers Robert Gray of Whitefield, Bruce Gray of Meredith; two sisters Muriel Tillson of Claremont and Conway, South Carolina, Irene Anderson of Clintonville, Wisconsin; an uncle Aloysius Eastman of Lancaster; a close cousin Bonnie Libby of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Richard, Shahonia, Anastasia, Sierra, Marion; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; a grandson Andre Michael-Paul Champagne; and a brother Frank Gray.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Friday morning, October 26, at 11:00, at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.
