Loretta M. Colby

GILMAN - Loretta M. Colby, 72, died suddenly at home on Jefferson Avenue on November 17, 2015.

Loretta was born in Lancaster on July 9, 1943 the daughter of Alfred J. and Yvette (Lussier) Morin.  She was the widow of the late Blaine E. "Bud" Colby.  Together they had 6 children and resided for many years in Lunenburg.

Family was Loretta's number one priority; she and Bud had a solid marriage of 28 years.  Spending time with family was what she loved most, especially with her grandchildren.  She enjoyed attending their sporting events and rooting them on.  Loretta was an exceptional cook and was always making something special for family and friends.  She also enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas, and was a big fan of the Patriots and Celtics.  For several years she worked at the Country Kettle Restaurant in Lunenburg.

Loretta was a Communicant of All Saints Church in Lancaster.

Family members include her six children, Kurt Colby and wife Shelly of Lunenburg, Kathy Gray and husband George of Lunenburg, Kerri Balch and husband Jeff of Gilman, Keith Colby and wife Lisa of Lunenburg, Karla Colby and significant other Mike Sullivan of Lunenburg, Karen Coy and husband Chuck of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marguerite "Sis" Moffett and husband Don of Penacook, NH, Cathy Olexa and husband Jerry of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by Bud in 1988 and two brothers, Joseph and Albert Morin.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening, November 22, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church.  Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, South Lunenburg.
