A well lived life.
Louise passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2025, at the age of 97 in Kitchener, Ontario due to heart failure.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Hubbard Booth, a World War II veteran who fought at the “Battle of the Bulge”, was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient and a former representative of the Vermont legislator. She was also predeceased by their first son Robert Lon and her older brother Burton and younger sister Bernice.
Louise is lovingly remembered by daughter Rae, son Brian, son-in-law Roland, daughter-in-law Nancy and grandchildren Roberta (Corey), Marina, Lindsay (Esriq), Kristin and James Michael (Rebecca), as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is also remembered dearly by Sue, Rob, Greg, and Nicola, who were like a second family.
Louise was born in West Milan, New Hampshire to Ward Burton Rounds and Addie Isabel Howland who were descendants of the original settlers of the area, indigenous Abenaki, and the families on the Mayflower. She always said “My ancestors came to North America to meet my other ancestors".
She attended Berlin High School and graduated from University of New Hampshire with a B.Sc. in Meteorology and Mathematics in 1950. At university she was on the Deans list, recipient of the Association of Women Students Award and the Charles Wiggins Scholarship.
She worked 25 hours per week in the University Cafeteria and at the paper mill in Northumberland, New Hampshire during summers to pay for her education.
After university she taught math and science at Concord School and was a substitute teacher at Guildhall Public School, both in Vermont.
In 1961, Louise and Robert moved to Pembroke, New Hampshire where Robert worked for Transformer Service prior to moving to Laval, Quebec for Transformer Service in 1963.
She focused on being a great homemaker for the family during the early years in Laval and in 1979 when the children had grown up, she began working for the Ogilvy Renault Law firm in their accounting department for 21 years, retiring in 2000 at the age of 72.
After Robert’s death, she remained in Laval, living on her own in her apartment and continued driving until the age of 95.
Throughout her time in Laval, she was a devoted and active member of the congregation of the Northlea United Church which was later relocated to Rosemere.
Two years ago, she moved to Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo, Ontario.
Throughout her life she enjoyed travelling to see family in the U.S. and Canada. She also travelled overseas to Ireland, England, Greece, and Indonesia.
She frequently visited her children and grandchildren playing cards, scrabble and cribbage. She was a voracious reader and loved playing “Wordle” every morning.
As Roberta said “Our hearts are shattered”.
Her family and friends will miss her dearly.
Louise will be laid to rest during a Graveside Service at Ridgwell Cemetery in Guildhall, Vermont on Saturday, May 30th, 2026 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the Order of the Eastern Star.
