Lucille Margaret Marchesseault Couture, 93 passed away at the Morrison nursing home July 17, 2026. She was born in Pittsburg, NH November 6, 1932 and the youngest of 8 children to the late Reine and Onile Marchesseault. She was raised in Beecher Falls, VT and graduated from Canaan Memorial high school in 1950.

She married the love of her life Rosaire, and together they raised seven children on a small farm in Jefferson, NH. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her greatest gifts. She found happiness in every family gathering, celebrated each milestone and loved nothing more than spending time with those she loved most.

After dedicating herself to raising her children, Lucille began a career in the Medical Records Deapartment at the Weeks Medical Center for 20 years. Retirement did not slow her generous spirit, she volunteered at the hospital gift shop for many years.

Lucille and Rosaire embraced the next chapter of their lives. Retirement gave them the freedom to enjoyed the simple pleasures. They cherished the opportunity to travel throughout the country, visiting their children in many states. They loved camping, and spending time with their close circle of friends, affectionately known as the “Crazy Bunch”. Sharing laughter around a campfire, or caring for their grandchildren whom they treasured.

Service to her community was one of her greatest joys. She generously volunteered as a 4-H leader, North Country Hospice,  stitching memory bears, and brought comfort to the Morrison nursing home playing the piano, sharing the gift of music that had been part of her life since she was 5 years old.

Music was woven into the fabric of her life. Whether playing Beethoven’s beloved Fur Elise, Grateful Dead and Willie Nelson, or gathering around the piano with family and friends, music brought joy and others together. She was also a member of the Jefferson choir for more than 25 years.

One of the greatest blessings of her life, was making a pilgrimage to Jerusalem with her three sisters. The journey filled her heart with overwhelming joy and deepened the faith that had sustained her throughout her life.

Lucille’s faith guided everything she did. She served her Catholic church by playing the organ and donating countless hours of crafting beautiful quilts that were raffled at the annual Catholic Church Bazaar. She was a member of the Coos Quilting Club for over 25 years while creating works of art stitched with love and care. She created many friendships while attending Senior exercising at Colonel Town for over 20 years.

Those who knew Lucille will remember her for her gentle heart. She lived by a simple but powerful motto: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it all”. She practiced those words every day.

Lucille was her son’s biggest fans, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on at soccer and wresting events. Always supporting and encouraging them every step of the way.

She was a wonderful teacher by example, taught us how to cook her delicious family recipes, sew and embrace creativity, plant beautiful gardens, and leaving us with gifts and traditions that will carry with us for a lifetime.

Her legacy will continue to live on through her family. She will forever be remembered with love, gratitude, and the music that continues to echo in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Lucille is predeceased by her husband Rosaire Couture.

Surviving family members include children Helen Couture, Lorraine Loring, Pauline Couture, Paulette Couture, Pierre Couture (Anne), Andy Couture (Mandy), Luc Couture (Beth). Eleven grandchildren; Clayton, Elise, William, Oliver, Noah, Colby, Bailey, Layla, Brittany, Lenè and Ashley. Six great grandchildren; Colton, Alden, Calla, Cora, Eliza and Luc. She also leaves behind her sister Orphise Grondin 104 years of age.

Funeral will be Saturday, July 25, 2026. Calling hours 9:00am – 10:00am at Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main St, Lancaster NH. Followed by Mass at 11:00 am at the Gate of Heaven Parish, 163 Main Street with burial to follow.
