LANCASTER, NH- Lucille King, 74, died Sunday morning August 14, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mrs. King was born in Colebrook, NH on March 8, 1937 a daughter of Grant and Mildred (Jeffers) Hook.
Lucille was raised in Brunswick, VT, and was a graduate of Stratford High School. In her youth she was a member of 4-H where and rode in many show horse competitions. She worked various jobs through the years including Groveton Paper Company, Campbell Envelope, North Stratford, and the Catholic Church. For 30 years she was a bus driver for Nugent Bus Service, Colebrook and the White Mountain Regional School District.
For 20 years she was married to the late Armand King Sr. and was a close companion of the late Fred Strong for 21 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. To many people she was a good friend including her children's friends who affectionately called her Mom or Gram.
Family members include six children, Linda Raymond of Jefferson, Cindy Hatjialexiou and her husband George of Colebrook; Millard King and his wife Eileen of Lancaster, Armand King Jr. and wife Debbie of Barnet, VT, Patrick King and wife Annette of Lancaster, and John King and wife Jacqueline of Lunenburg; a brother Kenneth Hook and his wife June of Brunswick, VT; a sister in-law Eleanor Hook of Brunswick, VT, 21 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Crystal King and her son in-law John Raymond.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening, August 16, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Rev. John MacKenzie, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.
