GRANBY, VT - Lynwood C. Brown, 85, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Lynwood was born July 1, 1933 in Cannan, VT the son of George and Hattie (Ellinwood) Brown. He met Barbara Hodgdon in Granby, fell in love and married her on March 27, 1953. They were married for 65 loving years.
During the Korean War Lynwood served with the US Army from 1953 through 1955. He came back home and raised his family in Granby. He worked as a logger his entire life until his retirement.
Lynwood served on the Granby Select Board for many years and was always lending someone a helpful hand. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons and also snowmobiling and tractor pulling with his best friend Dale.
Surviving family members include his sons Roger Brown and wife Kim, Larry Brown and wife Betty, Ray Brown and wife Claudette and daughters Deb Bunnell and husband Reg, Ellie Clauss, and Melinda Wojdylak and husband Jim. Lynwood was very proud of his 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He also leaves behind sister-in-laws Sue and Priscilla and many other family and friends.
Lynwood was predeceased by wife Barbara of 65 years; his parents George and Hattie Brown; all 9 of his siblings; son-in-law Fred Clauss; his great granddaughter Jewelya Marie Brown-Perras, and many family members and friends.
There will be a graveside service on August 26, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Porrell Appleton Cemetery on Porrell Rd in Granby, VT. A gathering will follow the service at the Granby Town Hall.
