Maidabelle S. Fortin

LANCASTER - Maidabelle S. Fortin, 95, of Garland Road, died Saturday morning February 1, 2014 at the Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.

Mrs. Fortin was lifetime resident of Lancaster born there on May 12, 1918 the daughter of Charles Sabin and Maryetta (Brown) Sedgell.

Maida was a homemaker who for many years assisted in the operations of the family dairy farm.  She not only worked in the creamery but cooked the meals for her family and the farm hands.    For a time she worked at the Lucas Tourist Home and for many years was secretary for the Summer Street Cemetery Association.  She enjoyed knitting, cooking and gardening.

Family members include her daughter and son-in-law Renee and Royce Hutchinson of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews.  Her husband John G. Fortin predeceased her in 1992. She was also predeceased by her twin sister Roxadelle Placey, a brother Charles Sedgell and a sister Lillian Lucas.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening February 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  Life Cycle celebrant Wendy MacDonald of Randolph will officiate.  Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to Lancaster Fire Department Assn., 25 Main Street, Lancaster, NH 03584 for emergency services.
