An aggressive brain tumor has ended Marc Griffin's life.  He was 59.  

Born in Ohio, he arrived in Lancaster as a 5-year-old kindergartner.  He rode the South Lancaster bus to school.  The town taxi brought him home.

He played baseball, soccer, and basketball at Colonel Town, learned to ski at Mt. Prospect and Cannon Mountain.  Soccer became his favorite sport.  In 1975, his senior year, he represented NH at the High School Boys All America game in West Point, NY.  

During summers, Marc worked at Garland Mill, where he honed his carpentry skills and learned to drive a stick shift. There was an incident involving a garage door as part of that learning process.

He continued his soccer career at UNH, followed by years of league play.  

Portsmouth became his home.  He was the stay-at-home dad for his two daughters.  As his girls grew, he coached their soccer games and used his carpentry skills to build a busy remodeling business.  

When diagnosed this Spring, his goal was to live to watch the Soccer World Cup competition.  He died several days after the championship game.

His siblings, Kate and Jo, and his mom, Ann, of Lancaster and St. Johnsbury, his daughters, Charlotte and Arden, and the mother of his children, Beth, of Exeter, wish him peace.
