LUNENBURG, VT – Margaret J. Gonyer, 87, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, January 11, 2024, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Margaret was born in Lunenburg on May 15, 1936, the daughter of Eugene J. and Emily Mary Jane (Rainville) Lamotte. She was a longtime resident and homemaker of Lunenburg who loved to cook and bake. She will be fondly remembered for her donuts and baked beans. Margaret was also a caregiver and would assist the elderly so they could stay home as long as possible. Her favorite pastime was visiting, in person or on the phone. She enjoyed talking with her children, grandchildren, and friends.
Surviving family members include her children, Paul McGoff (Kerry) of Bothell, WA, Theresa Taylor (Harold) of Orford, NH, Chris Gulick of Fairlee, VT; Gloria Kenyon (Ted) of Brighton, VT, Rita Kenyon (Mark) of Lunenburg, Sylvia Ball (Brian) of Lunenburg; a sister Mary Elizabeth Bovat of Lillian, AL; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Clyde W. Gonyer in 2014; a son Jim McGoff; three brothers, William Lamotte, Arthur Rainville, John Rainville; and a son-in-law Kenneth Gulick.
A graveside service will be celebrated Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster, NH. Reverend Britto Adaikalam, pastor of All Saints Church, Lancaster, will officiate.
