JEFFERSON - Marie Ann Noyes passed away on April 01, 2025 in Lancaster, NH. She was born in Berlin on April 14, 1938, and live in Jefferson since May 1941.
"She was one of a kind," many said. Marie loved hunting and fishing. In her later years, she especially loved hunting with Marc Miller, and she shot her last deer in November 2024. She used to love traveling, going to Europe and places across North America. She also loved taking her nieces and nephews on journeys across New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. In spare time, she loved watching birds, often feeding crows to the point she named each of them. As a hobby, Marie and her friend Mary also made stained glass. She also loved board games, jigsaw puzzles and the Boston Celtics.
And there was no denying she loved cooking. While Marie worked at an assortment of places, she often cooked at places like The Chester Lodge Cabins, Lewiston Maine Country Club, Arsenault Sub Shop, The Water Wheel, and most recently The Yokohama in Gorham. But she was most proud of owning The Pigs Whistle in Jefferson from 1972 to the mid-1980's.
Marie loved her home. For 11 years, she was Treasurer for the Town of Jefferson, and for 20 years she was a Supervisor of the Jefferson Checklist. In 1952, Marie became a certified Sister of the Rebekah Assembly of the International Order of Odd Fellows of New Hampshire. She also transported children for NFI North and also sold antiques from her garage every summer.
She was predeceased by her parents Earl W. Noyes and Amanda E. Blake Noyes, and her brother Robert C. Noyes, John D. Noyes, Samuel L. Noyes, and Donald E. Noyes. While she had no children, she considered all her nieces and nephews as her own. They are Stephen Noyes (deceased) & Eileen Kadle. Tim & Jill Noyes, Robert Noyes, Deborah Noyes, and Dawn "Sue" & Marc Miller. She thought the same of her rand nephews and nieces Eben, Nina, Camden, Carli, and Adam. She also had many friends close to her heart, like her dear companion Mary Ellingwood, and friends Linda Cushman, and Craig & Cindy Clukay.
Per her request, there will be no services. Her internment will be at the Lary Cemetery in Gorham at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in her name.
