Marilyn J. Rexford

WHITEFIELD - Marilyn J. Rexford, 82, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mrs. Rexford was born in Whitefield on May 12, 1927, the daughter of Asa C. and Gertrude (Blakeslee) Smith.  Her mother predeceased her at a young age and her father later married her stepmother Rose A. (Paquette) Smith.

Marilyn was a lifetime resident of Whitefield and graduate of Whitefield High School.  She married Wendell C. Rexford and through the years worked as a bookkeeper for his various businesses.  She was also employed for a time at Mell & Quincy, Whitefield, but the work she loved most was waiting tables at the Spaulding Inn, Whitefield.

Many of her interests included cooking, canning, reading, crosswords, bingo, bird watching and gardening.  Her greatest enjoyment came from being a mother and grandmother and being in the company of family and friends.  She also enjoyed time with Wendell at their winter home in Spring Hill, Florida.

Marilyn was a longtime member of the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield.

Family members include two sons, Carroll W. "Butch" Rexford and his wife Marion of Whitefield, Larry D. Rexford and his wife Kathy of Whitefield; a daughter Kimberly R. DesRuisseaux and her husband Marc of Auburn, NH; six grandchildren, Sharon Duffy, Kelli Bradbury, Bryan Rexford, Keith Rexford, Alexandra DesRuisseaux, Danielle DesRuisseaux; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.  Wendell predeceased her on June 11, of this year.  Her father & stepmother along with a brother, Hugh Smith and a sister, Virginia Mayhew also predeceased her.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening, July 28, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at the Advent Christian Church in Whitefield.  Rev. Lou Going, pastor will officiate.  Burial will follow in Park Street Cemetery, Whitefield.

Donations in lieu of flowers are to be made to the Advent Christian Church, 3 School Street, Whitefield, NH 03598.
